On Friday 19th January, students from Didsbury High School (DHS) had the opportunity to attend a Benedetti Foundation Young People’s String day.

160 students in KS2 and KS3 from local schools headed to Stockport Town Hall ballroom for the opportunity to work with the brilliant Benedetti team.

The Benedetti Foundation was set up by violinist Nicola Benedetti CBE. Through mass music events, the group work to make music participation and appreciation accessible to all.

DHS students from Year 7 were invited to attend, including those who only just started music lessons in September.

It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to work with and learn from the talented Benedetti team, which includes tutors and ambassadors from the Royal Northern College of Music.

Young people from across the area gathered as a large orchestra, filling the town hall with the wonderful sound of music.

The day culminated in a concert for parents and carers, showcasing the hard work and talent of the young performers.

Well done to our Year 7 students for making the most of this tremendous day!
