Last week, students at Didsbury High School got involved in a variety of exciting activities as part of our annual Biology Week.

From holding tarantulas to quizzing, our students have been busy learning about all things biological!

Animals Take Over

As a reward for students who have shown exceptional effort on Educake (our homework programme in science), Animals Take Over visited the school.

The group were able to get up close and personal with snakes, frogs, owls and many other animals.

This was a great opportunity for students and staff to step out of their comfort zones and conquer their fears.

Some students were even brave enough to put live tarantulas on their heads!

Biology in the classroom

During science lessons, students have been making their own mucus, looking at different biological specimens down microscopes and watching documentaries.

Big Biology House Quiz

This week also saw Didsbury High School’s first ‘Big Biology House Quiz’ take place.

Four Year 10 teams representing each House went head to head to see who has the biggest biological brains!

The competition was close, but Altius were crowned the winners with 18 points!

Fortius, Magnus and Citius all came joint second with 15 points each.

Well done to everyone who took part!

Thank you to everybody for getting involved and making this year’s Biology Week unforgettable!
