Our SEND Offer

Our SEND Offer at transition means that any children identified by Primary School as having additional needs will be offered an enhanced package of support. On this page we will explain some of this transition support and what will happen over the coming months.

We have a really extensive team of staff who work in our Student Support team and these staff all share is a commitment and passion for helping all learners. Our leadership team are all experienced in the field of SEND and bring a wealth of knowledge. You can read more about their backgrounds within the SEN Information Report on the school website. These are the staff that you will first meet in the SEND department and Miss Wynne will take the lead on transition.

The Process

Miss Wynne is going through the process of meeting with Primary Schools to discuss children. This typically involves the SENCO and Class Teachers as well as the Head of Year. Once we have held these meetings, we will be in touch to arrange some additional school visits after the half term holidays. At the extra transition visits we will do the following:

  • Meet parents/carers and your children and begin the process of writing our personal profiles for teachers which we call School Focused Plans
  • Discuss the transition processes and answer any questions you may have
  • Have a tour of the school with a member of staff
  • Carry out some quick Literacy Screening to help us look at class organization
  • See if there are any specific arrangements needed at the Whole School transition day in July

In September we will have a parent/carer SEND event at the start of the term and we really look forward to meeting with you.

If you have any questions then this email address includes the staff above: [email protected]

We know that working together to co-produce individual plans for your child will mean that they will become successful students at Didsbury High School. We will share hard copies of our transition booklets at these meetings but include these here as well:
