Didsbury High School students had the opportunity to host award-winning author, Anna Hoghton, whose debute children’s novel The Mask of Aribella was released in January.

The book has since been shortlisted for the Sakura Medal, a reading programme that brings students together to vote for their favourite book.

The Mask of Aribella is an action and fantasy book about a girl who discovers she has a secret power.

The event saw Anna talking to students virtually about the setting of the book and reading short extracts, followed by a Q&A with the students. Students were able to purchase a personally signed copy of The Mask of Aribella.

After the event a cross-Trust competition was launched encouraging students to design their own mask inspired by the book. The competition deadline is Friday 4 December.
